Upcoming Change to Operation Views in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8

By Diana Colgrove

With ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 prerelease now available, we wanted to make sure everyone was aware that operation view items will no longer be viewable at the final release of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8. This is similar to the change to operation views coming in the December 2019 release of ArcGIS Online that was recently announced.

The Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS Windows app was retired at the beginning of January 2019. Starting at ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7, legacy operation view items created by the Operations Dashboard legacy product were marked as retired in your organization’s content. Up to this point, if Enterprise users had upgraded to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 or 10.7.1, these items remained viewable. However, at ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8, operation view items will no longer be viewable. Before upgrading to 10.8, we highly recommend that you rebuild existing operation view items that you plan to continue using as dashboard items with the Operations Dashboard web app. To get started with the app, visit our help documentation.

Unfortunately, operation view items cannot be automatically converted to dashboard items, but the Operations Dashboard web app offers many new features that we believe you will find useful. If you encounter issues with migrating your operation views, please reach out to us via the GeoNet community.

You can continue using the Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS Windows app with ArcGIS Enterprise 10.3 to 10.6.1 to create and view operation view items, but please remember that the legacy app is in a retired state and therefore, technical support will not be available.

For more information about the product life cycle of the legacy Operations Dashboard product and its support from Esri, please refer to this web page.
