For those readers who may not know Jess, she’s full of energy, loves adventure, and is really excited about GIS. If you have seen the plenary sessions at any of Esri’s larger conferences, you have seen Jess. She is a regular presenter and enjoys telling stories for how the products are being used. She is meticulous about crafting a compelling story and tries hard to showcase the real efforts of our customers in her presentations. When I sat down to talk with Jess, I felt very fortunate to be able to steal some of her time for this discussion, but luckily we were in between conferences. Jess is engaging, entertaining, and insightful. Her journey to GIS is unexpected, but she seems to have truly found an area that best suits her talents, skills, and interests.
Jess shares her involvement with the Esri GeoExperience Center, as well as her involvement on stage supporting customers. When customers come on site, the GeoExperience Center team showcases tools and displays which allow visitors to better envision and understand how GIS can be applied across a wide range of user applications. In this discussion with her, we learn how GIS is a journey, a story, and an experience that drives innovation. When it comes to presenting on stage, its all about supporting the customers story and enabling them to have the best opportunity working with the Esri Events team. She reminds us that the GeoExperience Center is a resource open to everyone, enabling people to explore the technology in a format akin to a living GIS museum.
The role of the GeoExperience Center team is focused on satisfying curiosities and inspiring customers to build on the stories and successes of others. Its all about learning, growing and sharing best practices. I enjoyed talking with Jess so much- she’s a fun, and engaging guest with a ton of great information for you- and I can’t wait for you to hear about her journey with GIS.
