Community Maps Contributors Add Large-Scale Map Layers to World Topographic Map

By Shane Matthews

New and Updated Content to the World Topographic Map is Available!

Community Maps contributors are recognizing the value of adding large-scale map layers to Esri’s Online Basemaps. This release incorporates new and updated coverage to the World Topographic Map for select areas of India and Germany, and several cities and counties throughout the United States.

As online map services become more prevalent and levels of detail and scale increase, user expectations are extremely high. There is a demand for large-scale content. Esri and its user community are delivering. Not only does large-scale map content add context, it also raises the aesthetics bar just a little higher. Look at how these communities come alive with increased detail. Click on the images below for a larger view.
