Diana Benedict is intelligent, engaging, and highly driven. I think she brings such a great energy to our show, I’m super excited to share our conversation with the listeners. Originally a biologist by training, she takes us through her journey to GIS, from school to teaching for Esri, and ultimately Denver Water.  In her role with Denver Water’s IT Department, she oversees the enterprise GIS and provides support to the various GIS teams, collaborating closely with the GIS Administration team instrumental in coordinating the 15-year initiative to replace lead service lines. This project is impressive because Denver Water is not only choosing to methodically replace service lines that are not technically considered their responsibility, but also providing filters to their customers in the meantime while the long-term project works toward completion. (You can read more about the project here.) Diana is not only an employee of this water system, but she is also a customer. She feels the weight of this project from both sides of the coin and stresses the importance the project has from a community perspective.

My discussion with Diana was so fun- she is a new connection for  me via this podcast effort and I am confident I will have more engaging conversations with her in the future. She put so much thought and effort into giving us a great episode; Diana is a perfectionist in her work and that carried through with us during the recording.  I appreciate her for agreeing to chat with me and spending time sharing her story.
