The New YPN Site is a One-Stop Resource for the Next Generation of GIS Users
REDLANDS, Calif.—August 15, 2022—Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, created the Esri Young Professionals Network (YPN) in 2015 with the intention to provide a way for young pros in geospatial careers to connect with one another to grow their professional network, gain new skills to move up in the workplace, and be a part of a community of like-minded people. Its foundation is built on 3 crucial pillars: learn, connect, and lead.
As part of the company’s continuing commitment to fostering the growth of emerging talent in the field of GIS, Esri has launched a brand-new website for the YPN, featuring learning opportunities, resources for connecting with peers, and content about the work of young GIS professionals.
“This year, 2022, marks the eighth year that YPN has been in existence, and it has grown substantially,” said Raquel Perez, Founder of Esri YPN & Industry Marketing Manager. “To say I am honored and so proud of the work that has been done over the years is an understatement. Many Esri YPN champions all over the company have supported us throughout the years to get to where we are now…I look forward to an amazing 2023 with Esri YPN and the amazing support team.”
New features of the revamped Esri YPN website include:
- Faces of YPN—a blog series that highlights amazing young professionals working with GIS across all industries, sharing their own personal journeys and advice.
- Training Resources—visitors to the site can access training courses, the Esri Technical Certification Program, and learning plans with links to valuable opportunities for professional development such as Esri Academy and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
- Networking Opportunities—“Connect with our partners” offers mentoring opportunities; visitors can connect with other young professionals through the Esri YPN Community, Esri YPN LinkedIn Group, and YPN Twitter; users can submit their information for an opportunity to be featured as the next Faces of YPN and learn about the in-person conferences with YPN track.
“Esri YPN is a great way to meet new people with similar interests, learn about new and existing training opportunities to enhance your skills, and to stay updated with the GIS community around the globe,” said Logan Stevens, Esri’s Enterprise Release Engineer & YPN Advisory Board Member.
To learn more about the Esri YPN and how to become take part, visitors can fill out the form on the Esri YPN website to be added to its database. Esri will send updated information about the latest YPN news, upcoming events, and resources to help young GIS professionals connect with others and build their network.
