Esri Extends Partnership with MCH Strategic Data

Public Dashboard Highlights Daily COVID-19 Information at School District Level

REDLANDS, Calif.—June 3, 2021—Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, today announced that through an extended partnership with MCH Strategic Data, it will be providing a public dashboard resource with vital data on US school reopening plans, remote learning, and closures. The information aims to help families nationwide better understand the situation in their school district.

In partnership with Esri and the CDC Foundation, MCH has relaunched its COVID-19 dashboard to continue to keep families informed with enhanced school district level information. The newly upgraded resource includes data related to student and staff screenings, teaching methods, sports participation, mask policies, and district plans for handling positive COVID-19 cases. The dashboard also highlights the percentage of remote learning students and parental choice options for remote learning.

In addition to detailed intelligence, the relaunched resource has increased data compilation capabilities and features a time-lapse visualization illustrating instruction type and sports program participation changes. The dashboard’s upgrades also provide faster data updates for more timely insights, which will help families to quickly visualize and understand the current situation of their school district.

“This school year has been like no other, and communities, families, and educators are looking to vital resources like the MCH dashboard to make informed decisions for their health,” said Este Geraghty, Esri chief medical officer and health solutions director. “As national vaccination efforts enable students’ return to classroom instruction, we are proud to support this source of critical information that can help parents navigate safely returning their kids to school, whether in person or virtually.”

MCH Strategic Data compiles and provides institutional information for the education, health-care, government, and religious sectors. Esri first partnered with the organization in August 2020 to create a public dashboard resource displaying the impact of COVID-19 on K–12 school reopening plans, closures, and operations at the district level. The dashboard quickly became a valuable tool for hundreds of stakeholders nationwide, including researchers at universities, such as Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and governmental agencies, such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the US Department of Education.

“With nationwide vaccination efforts well under way, school district operational plans are changing at an increasing rate,” said Kelly Holder, chief information officer at MCH Strategic Data. “This has resulted in a nationwide effort to get children back into the classroom. We are thrilled the CDC Foundation has contracted MCH Strategic Data to continue to track this data and provide it as a resource, not only to the CDC but also anyone who finds the information of value.”
