Orca Maritime conducted a pre-dredge underwater survey of the seabed under the USS Midway Museum in December 2011. The survey included both side scan sonar imagery components (mosaic and snippets) and bathymetry. Using innovative mapping techniques to overcome the GPS-blocking canopy presented by the air craft carrier's flight deck, an accurate map was provided to determine pre-dredge depths around and under the ship, as well as individual bottom objects that might pose a hazard to the dredge equipment
