How to share Social Media on your Hub Sites

By Katie Thompson

There are a variety of reasons to share social media on your site.
Maybe you work closely with local non-profits or other departments across your organization and want to share their live updates all in one place. Or, maybe you want to increase the visibility and reach of your organization’s own social content.
Whatever it is you want to share, use your new Social Media card to highlight specific Tweets, Facebook posts, and timelines. All you need is a link.

Facebook

Copy a Facebook page’s URL to share a timeline, or click the timestamp in the top left corner of a post to snag the right URL to share something specific.
With Facebook  timeline options, you can also opt to display your Facebook Events so people can see what’s coming up.

And, add Messages so that people can ask questions, provide feedback, or just say hi without having to leave your site.

Twitter
You know the drill. Just drop a link to share a tweet or timeline.

Toggle on any of these options to customize the display of your twitter timeline. Don't worry, single tweets have options too.

Got just one to show? Change the size and position of a tweet to fit right where you want.

Or, show off multiple tweets at once with a collection.

Don’t forget about video. While it’s not considered a traditional social media platform, YouTube draws in some big numbers with 73% of U.S. adults using the service. That’s why we have a Video card to help you quickly share any Facebook, YouTube, or Vimeo video.
Think mobile
We’re increasingly consuming more and more information on our mobile devices, too (We are Social, 2018). So, we made sure that any video or social media content you add to your sites is mobile responsive.
Get started
Get started with a site you already have by dragging and dropping the new Social Media card onto your layout. Hover over your card and click the settings icon to open the customize side panel. Then paste your URL in the provided field.

All that’s left are additional settings. Click any of the toggles under the Options menu to make the display your own.

Options for displaying a single tweet.

If you’re totally new to hub sites, enable open data, a capability you already have if you’ve got a subscription to ArcGIS Online. You’ll then find access to ArcGIS Hub Basic in the app switcher next to your ArcGIS Online profile. Then, get started with creating your first site
