Description:
This project consists in creating a solar mapping web application using the Canton of Geneva’s solar data. This application provides Geneva’s citizens, various information about the solar potential of their home’s rooftop. The data calculation is based on an urban 3D model of the Canton, acquired by LIDAR. The complexity of the source data and the transformation algorithms requires the use of a scalable, reliable computing architecture, which can support a huge processing load; in this context, cloud computing was the natural way to go. In details, the web application contains the following functionalities: - Get information on the solar potential of your home - Visualize the benefits of a solar installation, in terms of energy and money savings - Compare the available technologies and their efficiency
