Developers can share their creativity and expertise with the geographic information system (GIS) developer community by submitting original code samples to the second annual ArcGIS Server Code Challenge at www.esri.com/codechallenge. Cash prizes, including $15,000 for first place, will be awarded for the top three winning code samples.
The developer community will review and vote for the top three entries based on the creativity, applicability, and relevance of each code sample. Entries can range from a simple task to complex analysis.
Code Challenge winners will be announced at the upcoming 2008 Esri Developer Summit, which will be held March 1720, in Palm Springs, California. The developers who submit the winning entries do not need to be present to collect the prizes.
The Code Challenge is open to all developers, including Esri business partners, provided the applicant or the applicant's organization is a licensed user of ArcGIS Server 9.2 or a current Esri Developer Network (EDN) subscriber.
To enter the Code Challenge, developers need to produce an original code sample using ArcGIS Server 9.2 and upload their sample to Esri's ArcScripts Web page. Entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. (Pacific standard time) February 29, 2008.
The developer community will vote for first-, second-, and third-place winners. The first-place prize is $15,000, the prize for second place is $7,500, and the third-place prize is $2,500. Winning applications will be announced no later than Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Developer Summit and will be showcased on the esri.com and EDN Web sites.
The Developer Summit 2008 brings together developers who use GIS, mapping, and spatial data to learn about the latest Esri technologies. Developers will learn how to leverage Esri technology to build, customize, and deploy spatially enabled applications.
