15 Years of ServiceEsri Congratulates Australian GIS PioneerEsri wishes to extend heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Ron Hutchinson in his ongoing role as chief executive officer for Esri-Australia. Hutchinson recently completed 15 years of service with the company. Hutchinson has devoted his career, which spans nearly 50 years, to the application of information technology in the cartographic, surveying, and GIS fields. Comments Jack Dangermond, "Ron was the first to develop an international presence for Esri. The success that has been achieved in his region is a testimony to his superb sales and marketing efforts and keen perception of the local market." During his 25-year tenure in the Geodetic Section of the Western Australia Department of Lands, Hutchinson made a major contribution in the development of large systems using the information technology tools available at that time. In 1981, he joined the local government as systems architect for a Land Information Systems Service Centre (LISSC). The Centre pioneered land information system development in Western Australia. In 1984, Hutchinson was recruited as the Managing Director of Esri-Australia. Under his leadership, the company grew from a single-person operation to an organization that currently employs more than 65 staff members.
Comments Guy Perkins, "Ron has always treated the company as part of his family. The staff have always been paramount in Ron's mind whenever a difficult decision had to be made. This is evident in the very low turnover rate and respect that Ron has in the company." During recent years, Hutchinson successfully launched Esri-South Asia Pty. Ltd., Esri-Australia Defense Pty. Ltd., and Geographic Business Systems Pty. Ltd. Currently, total revenues for all four companies, including Esri-Australia Pty. Ltd. exceed $20 million (Australian) with more than 130 employees located at the various sites. For more information, contact Guy Perkins, Esri-Australia (E-mail: gperkins@esriau.com.au). |
