Innsbruck, Austria, Hosts 18th Esri European User Conference |

Innsbruck, Austria, will be the Alpine setting for the 18th Esri European User Conference (EUC) and the 10th German User Conference from October 8-10, 2003. The theme is "gis@work" to emphasize that GIS is now being used as a mature technology in many business processes. The plenary session will be in English while the technical workshops will be given in both German and English (all workshops will be in two languages). The presentations for the European User Conference will all be in English, and the ones for the German User Conferencebeing held simultaneouslywill be only in German. The language of presentation for each session will be clearly labeled in the agenda. The plenary session will take place on Wednesday, October 8, ending with a GIS Show highlighting end user applications. Thursday and Friday will be filled with user presentations, technical workshops, a map gallery, the doctor's corner, and a big gala event on Thursday night. There will also be an exhibition that will give Business Partners an opportunity to contact conference participants. The venue of the conference will be the award-winning, modern conference center of Innsbruck, which combines modern architecture with a historical festival hall, the Dogana. Currently the following tracks are scheduled: cadastre, defense, health care, public safety, utilities, and local government. This composition may change depending on the abstracts received. Educational EventIn conjunction with EUC'03 there will be the first European Educational Conference (European EdCon'03), which will bring together GIS educators from both the academic and K-12 (elementary and high school) world. This event will start on October 10 at the same venue as the User Conference and continue on October 11 at the premises of the Technical University of Innsbruck. The focus of this conference will be GIS Education and Training in Europe.
