ArcIMS to Include Helpful Site Starter Templates
Starting in the second quarter of 2001, Esri will provide ArcIMS developers with a series of simple and lightweight site starter templates that allow rapid development of 
applications found in ArcIMS-powered Web sites. These templates include procedures that let users make maps and easily query/interact directly with the database independent of the map. This allows users to go directly to the data they want to see, speeding up the entire search process, and then display a report or a map that is specific to those query results.

From a development standpoint, these lightweight templates are simple to install straight out of the box. No additional software is needed to insert them into an ArcIMS-powered Web site. The templates are also highly customizable. They can act as a basic starting point or key components for constructing a more complicated server application. Users can easily build upon them and extend their capabilities to meet their own particular needs.
