The 2nd GIS in Public Health Conference will take place in Providence, Rhode Island, June 58, 2009. The event, themed "Putting Health in Place with GIS," will provide an open and participatory forum for advancing the effective use of spatial information and GIS technologies across the domains of public health, health care, and community health preparedness. We are looking forward to getting this enthusiastic group of professionals together again! Also in June will be another presentation of URISA's Leadership Academy. In August, GIS, addressing, 9-1-1, and emergency management professionals will convene for the URISA/NENA Addressing Conference. This conference is presented in collaboration with the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and enjoys a great history of impressive content and enjoyable networking. URISA's annual conference heads to Southern California in 2009. The 47th annual gathering will take place September 29 through October 2. Program changes will include more leadership education, along with sessions related to managing the technology. Be sure to include URISA 2009 in your professional development plans! A new partnership with the Center for Urban Transit Research means that URISA is cosponsoring another specialty topic conference, the GIS in Transit Conference. This program will take place in St. Petersburg, Florida, in November 2009. Take some time to review all the conference offerings at www.urisa.org. |
