ArcGIS Enterprise Pricing FAQ
There are three options for purchasing ArcGIS Enterprise: Standard, Advanced, and Kubernetes. The initial purchase is made through the Esri Sales Team. Each option of ArcGIS Enterprise (Standard, Advanced, or Kubernetes) includes a specific number of Creator and Viewer user types, allowing you to choose the one that best suits the size of your organization. If you are eligible for an Enterprise Agreement, our Sales Team will assist you in selecting the most suitable option for your organization.
ArcGIS Enterprise is a self-hosted software. If you require a software as a service version of ArcGIS, you can purchase ArcGIS Online.
A user type is an annual license and the primary method of accessing ArcGIS Enterprise apps and capabilities. There are six different user types available that align with typical ArcGIS Enterprise workflows, including creating maps, conducting analysis, ensuring data quality, and making data-driven decisions. User types provide progressive permissions within ArcGIS Enterprise, allowing users to perform various tasks. These tasks range from monitoring performance securely with the Viewer user type to executing advanced analytics and high-end cartography with the Professional Plus user type. Explore the different user types.
User types are specifically designed to support typical workflows that enable your organization to generate geospatial insights. With varying prices and levels of access, you can select user types based on the skills and needs of your team, ensuring that the right tools are available to the right people.
We recommend starting by determining which members of your team need to map, manage, and analyze data. In this case, you would require a Creator, Professional, or Professional Plus user type. One key difference between these three user types is the license level of the included ArcGIS Pro software. The Creator user type includes a Basic license, providing core functionality. The Professional user type includes a Standard license, while the Professional Plus user type includes an Advanced license and ArcGIS Pro extension products. To learn more about the functionality supported by the ArcGIS Pro Standard and Advanced licenses, please review the ArcGIS Pro license levels.
Once you have identified the individuals in your organization who will be creating ArcGIS content, managing and analyzing data, you can assess who needs secure access to collaborate using the Mobile Worker user type, ensure data quality as a Contributor, or make data-driven decisions as a Viewer.
You will have access to the updated user types when you upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise version 11.4. For more information and details on what's included in other versions of ArcGIS Enterprise, please contact your Esri representative.
ArcGIS Enterprise subscriptions provide the flexibility to scale with your organization's needs. After purchasing ArcGIS Enterprise Standard, Advanced, or Kubernetes, you have the option to add more user types to your organization. This can be done through the Esri Sales Team or the Esri Store.
You can add additional capabilities and apps to an existing user type license.
An ArcGIS Enterprise organization is a group of users from a company who can work together using ArcGIS apps and capabilities in a shared portal. The organization is managed by an administrator who oversees portal features, the members who participate, user types, and permissions. An organization member with a Creator, Professional, or Professional Plus user type can be assigned the role of organization administrator.
No, per the terms of our Master Agreement, each user type license must be used by a single person. Each team member must be assigned their own user type and user type licenses may not be shared.
