Responsibilities


  • Design Creation and Implementation: You will be responsible for creating visual designs specifically for mobile and native UI functionality included with Esri's mapping SDKs. This includes designing UX/UI solutions at various levels of fidelity, from high-level wireframes and mock-ups to detailed visual designs, technical documents, diagrams, and interactive prototypes. Your designs will convert complex requirements into intuitive, easy-to-use, and accessible interfaces.
  • Design Coherence and Guidance: You will drive the overall design coherence by providing interaction and visual design guidance. This involves conducting design reviews, ensuring that the design standards are maintained across all products, and producing detailed production design specifications for the development team.
  • Team Collaboration and Inspiration: You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. You will also be an advocate for UX activities, clearly communicating their value to team members, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Staying up to date with the latest design patterns and technologies is crucial in this role. You will continuously learn and adapt, integrating new trends and technologies into your design process to keep Esri's products at the cutting edge of user experience design.

Requirements


  • 2+ years in UX, UI, or interaction design, particularly focusing on mobile and desktop application UIs, is essential
  • Proficient in using design software such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Understanding of best practices in user-centered design and possess strong graphic design skills; this includes expertise in typography, intuitive layouts, user journeys, storytelling, and grid-based design
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, graphic design, computer science, or a related field is necessary
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities, how you think, and a strong understanding of client objectives
  • Familiarity with Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design

Recommended Qualifications


  • Knowledge of qualitative and mixed-method UX research methodologies will be beneficial, helping to inform and validate your design decisions
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS), mapping, and analysis applications is a significant plus

Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$72,800-$135,200 USD
