Overview


In this position, you will help Esri customers continue to learn about GIS and Esri technology by managing the teams that design, author, and update training materials that teach GIS concepts, skills, and workflows. You will work with technical staff who have knowledge of Esri software, experience in a variety of disciplines, and experience developing instructionally sound learning materials.

Responsibilities


  • Support the development of author, technical editor, and instructional design managers and team members
  • Support content development processes for Training Services products
  • Partner with the curriculum manager to prioritize course development projects based on resource availability, demand, and strategic need
  • Provide performance feedback to personnel assigned to the team
  • Recruit and train new talent as needed
  • Monitor daily administrative concerns to include resourcing and staff allocation, time management, inter-team communications, and issue resolution
  • Participate in interdepartmental and company-wide projects as needed
  • Evaluate and stay up to date with new technology (web, graphics, e-Learning)
  • Communicate with the Senior Learning Strategies Manager on staff issues, resource needs, team productivity, and assignment details

Requirements


  • 10+ years of experience in course development or curriculum design
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of five or more individuals in a production-based environment
  • Ability to develop productive relationships with customers, colleagues, and management
  • Proven experience with staff development and team building
  • Superior initiative and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's in Geoscience, Management, Instructional Design, Education, or related field

Recommended Qualifications


  • Prior experience in multiple roles within a training organization, such as a course developer, instructor, technical writer, technical editor, documentation lead, or publishing/editing supervisor
  • Experience with change management, workforce development, or human capital improvement
  • Deep understanding of development or technical training material
  • Knowledge of and experience applying the instructional design process
  • Understanding of GIS and knowledge of Esri software
  • Master's in Geoscience, Management, Instructional Design, Education, or related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$114,400-$176,800 USD
