Reminder: ArcGIS Collector on Windows platform to retire

By Liz Armstrong

On Oct 1, 2024, ArcGIS Collector on Windows will be officially retired and no longer supported by Esri.

Collector on Windows will continue to work on mobile devices if already downloaded, but please note that it will not be supported or further enhanced. To provide flexibility during this transition, the Collector app will remain in the Microsoft Store until October 2025.

Background

Back in November 2023, we announced that ArcGIS Collector on Windows would be retiring. Collector on Android and iOS has been retired since Dec 31st 2021. ArcGIS Field Maps, which was launched in the fall of 2020 on Android and iOS, is the next generation successor to Collector and offers our best capabilities for GIS-enriched mobile map viewing, data collection, and real-time location sharing, all within a single, user-friendly application.

Recommendations

If possible, customers should migrate to ArcGIS Field Maps on Android or iOS. There are no plans to build a native app on Windows at this time. For help migrating to Field Maps, check out the ArcGIS Field Maps Migration guide.

For customers that cannot deploy on Android or iOS, there are alternative ArcGIS applications which are available on the Windows’s platform including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS QuickCapture, and ArcGIS Earth, as well as ArcGIS web applications including ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Instant Apps, and ArcGIS Web Editor.

For additional Windows solutions, we have an extensive partner network and custom Windows solutions can be developed using the ArcGIS Maps SDK for .Net: https://developers.arcgis.com/net/
