Configurable Apps Announcement - Finder and Find, Edit, Filter Templates moving to Mature Support Phase

In the upcoming December 2016 Release of ArcGIS Online, two configurable application templates,  Finder  and  Find, Edit, and Filter will move into the mature phase of the Product Lifecycle  and will be removed from the default Configurable Apps Gallery.

The Finder and Find, Edit and Filter templates were created to enable ArcGIS users to search and query attributes in feature layers as well as edit and filter content based on attribute values. This same functionality is now available through different apps and widgets in ArcGIS.

Finder:

The ability to search for values in specific fields and return values from specific fields can be accomplished using these configurable apps: Basic Viewer,  Map Tools, Minimalist and Public Information. You can also use the Search widget in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS.

Find, Edit , and Filter:

You can find the ability to edit filtered layers in the Web AppBuilder with Group Filter and Smart Editor widgets.

What does the Mature Phase of a configurable application template mean?

• If you have already configured an application using a template that is in the mature phase, the app will continue to work and be accessible to your users.
• No new functionality will be added to the template in future releases.
• No reported issues or bugs will be fixed in the app
• The item details page will indicate that the app is in mature support and will point you to resources for similar functionality.

Can I still create apps from these templates even after they are moved to the mature phase?

Yes. These apps will remain as items in ArcGIS Online after they have been moved to the mature phase. If you still want to use the apps, you can create a custom configurable app group that contains the app item. Set this group as your configurable app template group in the organization administration settings. Users in your organization will then be able to create additional apps from the template.

You will also notice that some language is changing to describe configurable application templates that have moved out of the general availability phase of the product lifecycle. Moving forward in upcoming releases, configurable apps will use the extended phase and mature phase to more accurately indicate the appropriate phase of the template.
