Community Maps Data Prep Tools
One way to contribute to Esri’s Community Maps Program is by using a set of downloadable tools to prepare your basemap layers for submission. The tools are designed to be run in an ‘a la carte’ fashion, only running the tools for the layers being contributed. These tools have been in place since the beginning of the program and have gone through several iterations. All of the functionality improvements and enhancements are based on contributor feedback and suggestions. Data Prep Tools version 4.0 is now available!
What’s New?
Here are the highlights:
- Compatible with ArcGIS Pro 2.5.1 and later.
- Includes these layer name changes: “Tribal Lands” renamed to “Indigenous Lands,” “Addresses” layer renamed to ‘Point Addresses,” there is a new Address “Distance Markers” layer, and finally there are expanded Railway Line and Building Footprint categories.
- Schema changes to RailwayLine, BuildingFootprint, and PointAddresses tools mean previously saved Version 3.1 Tool Parameters (for these tools only) will not fully import into Version 4.0. Pro Tip! you will need to re-create queries for these tools.
- The associated resource “Data Layers Spreadsheet” has shifted from an XLS download to HTML, making it easier to bookmark and reference.
