ArcGIS Indoors - Something Big Is Coming

By Silvia Pichler

A little more than a year ago, ArcGIS Indoors launched to empower professional indoor environments with GIS technology for asset, space and building managementEver since then we have seen hospitals, airports and corporate facilities use the technology to create a common operating picture of their indoor operations for all stakeholders at their workplace.

By facilitating resource planning and work order management as well as enabling digital wayfinding, employers have been handed the tools to improve workplace operations and make better informed decisions. This not only helped them streamline their workflows and collaboration, but also reduce costs by considerably enhancing efficiencies

Smart Indoor Space Management

Now, ArcGIS Indoors is ready to take the next big step by introducing several exciting new capabilitiesAt the heart of this new release is indoor space planning and management. Newly added features will allow organizations to plan and implement space allocation strategies much faster and easier than ever before. This way they can optimize their space utilization and support organizational goals.

As employees are returning to their workplaces in the Covid-19 recovery phase, the ArcGIS Indoors Space Planner can be a particularly valuable resource for employers. Figuring out desk spacing and assigning workspaces to each employee will be crucial to ensure compliance with safety regulations and undisrupted business continuity.

Furthermore, for the new release, a lot of work has been put into removing barriers to access the ArcGIS Indoors system. Without giving too much away, with the new version of ArcGIS Indoors, users will be able to enjoy the benefits of indoor location services at significantly lower setup costs.
