Take Your Web Maps Offline

By Josh Clifford

Take Your Web Maps Offline (PDF) is a new implementation guide for field operations. It teaches administrators how to prepare maps for offline use in Collector for ArcGIS and Explorer for ArcGIS.

You can’t always predict whether mobile workers will have an internet connection in the field, but you can prepare them to work without one. This guide will teach you how.

Task checklist for taking web maps offline

By taking web maps offline, your mobile workers can collect data and explore assets on their mobile device – regardless of whether or not they have an internet connection.

Complete the checklist provided in the guide and you’ll be able to:

  • Configure your web maps for offline use.
  • Create map areas that allow you to take all of your data and attachments offline.
  • Sync offline data changes between the office and other mobile devices.

While you can go offline with Collector Classic, map areas are only supported in the new version of Collector, available on iOS and Android.
