Jared M. Spool, the forefather of user experience (UX) research and founder of the world’s largest usability research organization, will deliver the Keynote Address at this year’s Esri International Developer Summit (DevSummit) in Palm Springs, California. Spool’s address, "The Anatomy of Design Decisions," will focus on five styles of decision making for creating positive software and web design user experiences.
Spool founded User Interface Engineering (UIE) and is a leading communicator on the subject of user experience today. He began working in the field of user-focused design well before usability became a common term in IT. Spool works with research teams at UIE, consults with clients on how to solve design problems, and speaks at more than 20 technical conferences every year. He is the author of the book Web Usability: A Designer’s Guide and coauthor of Web Anatomy: Interaction Design Frameworks That Work.
"The trajectory in software application development is always moving toward user-focused design," says Jim Barry, program manager, Esri Developer Network. "Spool’s knowledge of the decision processes that result in happy and productive user experiences will be invaluable to DevSummit attendees, many of whom have to make design decisions on a daily basis."
The DevSummit is for developers who want to hone their development skills and geoenable their applications. It consists of a wide range of learning opportunities for all levels of experience and is the official preview of what’s coming in ArcGIS.
