- RouteMAP IMS consists of three components: Server Manager, WebGate, and Map Author.
Server Manager is used to store information about the users and their maps. It features a simple user management system and transparent data storage. The Server Manager works in conjunction with the WebGate to serve maps to a Web server.
WebGate manages the distribution and balancing of the application for scalability.
Map Author handles the administration of the map attributes and provides templates for the Web pages.
- Does RouteMAP IMS require programming?
- No. Although RouteMAP IMS is customizable via the API, you can use it right out of the box.
- Can I add multiple custom map symbols?
- Yes. The Map Author allows you to add custom point symbols.
- What is Optimized Routing?
- RouteMAP IMS places multiple stops in the most efficient route so you don't have to figure out which stop to go to first. Optimized routing solves the traveling salesman problem.
- Does RouteMAP IMS read shapefiles?
- You can add shapefiles as a reference layer for map rendering only. You cannot route on this layer.
- Is RouteMAP IMS scalable?
- Yes. The WebGate allows you to add multiple servers to act as a single, scalable, and reliable map server.
- What datasets are available for RouteMAP IMS?
- Available datasets include Dynamap 2000 Transportation for North America (U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico) and MultiNET street data for Europe, both from Tele Atlas.
