The CSW Clients for ArcGIS enable searching a GIS Portal metadata catalog using the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Catalog Service for the Web (CS-W) interface to

• Search metadata catalogs directly from ArcMap or ArcGIS Explorer.
• View the title and abstract of search results, and download the metadata xml.
• Add referenced live map services to their ArcMap document or ArcGIS Explorer globe.

The WMC Tool for ArcGIS Desktop enables users to reload services stored in an OGC Web Map Context (WMC) document in ArcMap. WMC documents may be created using the GIS Portal Toolkit Map Viewer application and provide for an interoperable way to transfer content discovered through a GIS portal to the desktop.
