Download CSW Clients for ArcGIS

A. Install the CSW Client

1. Download and unzip csw-clients-for-arcgis.zip. Detailed installation instructions are available in the Readme.pdf file.
2. Run setup.exe.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen, taking note of where in the file structure the application is saved. By default, the installation includes the CSW Client for ArcMap and for ArcGIS Explorer. If only one of the two CSW Clients is desired (for example, you do not want the CSW Client installed for ArcMap but do want it for ArcGIS Explorer), select "Custom" from the install screen and specify which component should not be installed.
   
   NOTE: In ArcGIS Explorer, if a previous version of the CSW Clients was installed it is necessary to first delete the "Find Services" task (it will be listed in the "All available tasks" pane under "Tools\Manage Tasks") before navigating to the new "CSWSearchTask.CustomTaskUI.nmf" file.

B. Add the CSW Client to ArcMap

1. Start the ArcMap application of ArcGIS Desktop (ArcInfo, ArcEditor, or ArcView).
2. Click Tools.
3. Click Customize.
4. Click the Commands Tab.
5. Highlight "GIS Portal Toolkit" in the list of Commands.
6. Drag the Find Services icon to any toolbar in ArcMap.
7. Close the Customize Box.

C. Add the CSW Client to ArcGIS Explorer

1. Open the ArcGIS Explorer application.
2. At the top of the application, click on the "Tools" menu and select "Manage Tasks". A "Manage Tasks" popup window appears.
3. Click "Get Tasks..."
4. Browse to the directory where the CSW Client files were installed. The default filepath is "C:\Program Files\ESRI\Portal\CswClients\".
5. Select the "CSWSearchTask.CustomTaskUI.nmf" file and click "Open". A download box appears. Click "Download".
6. After the file has been downloaded into ArcGIS Explorer, the "Manage Tasks" window will have changed. It now has the "Find Services" tasks listed in the left of the two boxes.
7. Highlight the "Find Services" task and click on the arrow located between the two boxes. The "Find Services" task is added to the box on the right.
8. Click "OK" to close the Manage Tasks window.
9. Notice that the "Find Services" task is now listed at the bottom of the Tasks menu. Click on the arrow to the far right of the Find Services task and select "Activate" to open it.
