ArcGIS Business Analyst comes with a comprehensive library of data that includes demographic data from ESRI; business listing data from infoUSA Inc., premium imagery data from GlobeXplorer, shopping center data from the Directory of Major Malls, and Dynamap/Transportation street data from Tele Atlas.
ESRI includes annual software maintenance and technical support in the purchase price of the ArcGIS Business Analyst extension license. Under this maintenance program, ESRI will typically provide updates to the data once annually. This will include annual updates of the infoUSA business files, ESRI demographic data, the ESRI geocoder, the Directory of Major Malls Shopping Center Data, and the Tele Atlas Dynamap/ Transportation street data.
ArcGIS Business Analyst technical support, data updates, or software updates are not available separately. Maintenance for the ArcGIS Business Analyst extension will include any updates of the Business Analyst extension software and data that are made available during the maintenance period. The extension maintenance does not provide updates to the ArcGIS core software.
No, you don't have to launch ArcGIS to open a saved map document.
Business Analyst map documents are files with a .mxd extension. An MXD is the ESRI equivalent of a Microsoft Word document's .doc extension. It manages all the data in your particular map document or study area. You can launch (open) an MXD just like you launch a Word document from anywhere on your computer. You can even make shortcuts on your desktop to these documents.
Note: It is best to save your MXD in its final location and not copy and paste it from folder to folder. Make shortcuts if you want to launch MXDs from other areas of your computer. Otherwise, you may have to reestablish links to your layers.
