ArcGIS Aviation Charting is a data-driven, chart production system that efficiently manages aviation data, products, and workflows with a geographic information system (GIS) to generate navigational products that are compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 4 and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. It simplifies aeronautical charting and ensures charts are kept up-to-date according to the Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC) cycle. This allows aviation authorities to focus on innovation, provide reliable and safe air navigation services, and promote business growth through accurate digital information products.

What can Aviation Charting do?

Reduce production cost through automation

Aviation Charting is a data-driven system with a data model that organizes features, attributes, metadata, symbology rules, labeling properties, and validation checks in a central geodatabase. It automates aeronautical charting workflows and streamlines how data updates are reflected on all related products, allowing you to produce charts more efficiently.

Rule-based production

A standardized information model uses coded value domains and ranges to prevent entering incorrect data. Automatically review and verify updates to data and charts and track edits for traceability. Stored business rules automatically drive cartographic processes like masking, labeling, and symbology to ensure chart products are consistent and accurate.

Configuration, not customization

Deploy out-of-the-box template configurations with layout, symbology, labeling, masking, and validation rules to quickly stand up your production system. The configurable aeronautical charting system allows you to scale up to support the demand for new products.

Support safety of flight

Ensure the safety of air navigation by providing authoritative, accurate, and consistent aeronautical data and charts. Leverage the aviation data model and validation tools to meet aeronautical data quality requirements via the Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM), Electronic Terrain and Obstacle Data (eTOD), and Airport Mapping Database (AMDB). Aviation Charting also includes templates and business rules to create ICAO Annex 4- and FAA-compliant aeronautical charts.

Be the industry leader

Envision new workflows and create new business opportunities through value-added content and on-demand data and charts. Unlock the power of geographic information system (GIS) software to gain insight into real-time flight traffic, monitor airspace traffic and capacity, get up-to-date status on chart production, and view Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued through configurable dashboards.

Meet mission-oriented objectives

Contribute data-driven maps and apps and collaborate with other national agencies to effectively respond to major incidents or natural disasters. Serve the aviation community through efficient delivery of air navigation services and expand air connectivity via interagency collaboration.
