Natural Resources and Land Management

In 1969, ESRI was founded to support intelligent natural resource management. The fledgling consulting services company used geography as a new framework for assessing, monitoring, and managing resources, and it was this concept that ultimately led to the commercialization of GIS.

We continue to support organizations by implementing effective GIS solutions for managing natural resources—whether terrestrial, marine, or atmospheric—to meet the increasing demands placed on them. Our services support encompasses the following:

Environmental Management and Conservation

Success Stories

We can implement GIS solutions to help you collect, integrate, visualize, and analyze the huge amounts of complex data involved in developing sound environmental management strategies. Our goal is to help you apply appropriate technologies at various scales effectively and efficiently to support sound environmental management and conservation. This includes providing solutions that allow greater data sharing across your organization and with partner organizations for an integrated management approach.

For more information regarding GIS services for environmental management and conservation, contact Dick Lawrence at 909-793-2853, extension 1-1700. Outside the United States, please contact your local distributor.

ESRI also offers grants of software and training through the ESRI Conservation Program, a nonprofit support program. Learn more.

Petroleum and Natural Gas

ESRI Professional Services staff have extensive experience in the analysis, planning, design, and implementation of petroleum, natural gas, and pipeline GIS systems. Our industry expertise includes integration of GIS with information systems technology such as electronic document management systems (EDMS) and computer-aided design (CAD), enterprise resource planning (ERP), hydraulic analysis, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

From initial exploration through acquisition, development, and production to final divestiture, petroleum companies have leveraged ESRI GIS at every stage to improve their business practices. We have worked hard to develop a cadre of domain specialists who understand and are committed to working with petroleum GIS full time. As such, they have developed a skill set and knowledge base that can be put to immediate use and create maximum value.

We have been and are currently engaged with many oil companies on GIS deployment strategy from technical implementation to future service-oriented architecture (SOA) design and systems advice. ESRI technologies are used by nearly all the top 50 oil companies in the world, and there exists a substantial ESRI-based GIS community of practice numbering more than 4,000 members.

For more information regarding oil/gas/pipeline GIS services, contact Don Carson at 972-664-0457. Outside the United States, please contact your local distributor.

Water Resources

Water resource management involves collecting and integrating a large number of variables and understanding how these variables affect resources over time and space. Such projects are complex, and our specialists have a great deal of experience and scientific expertise to draw from to help you deploy GIS. In addition to our project work, we have collaborated with several government and scientific organizations to develop technology solutions for water resource management including the Arc Hydro data model, StreamStats, and the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science Hydrologic Information System.

For more information regarding water resources GIS services, contact Dean Djokic at 909-793-2853, extension 1-1072. Outside the United States, please contact your local distributor.
