City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department Invests Significantly in Integrating ESRI GIS and SAP ERP
The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department has implemented an asset management system that integrates SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) with ESRI GIS. The department chose ESRI business partner CyberTech Systems and Software as the city’s consultant in the integration and in helping create a plan for the implementation of ESRI software as an enterprise resource. The plan highlighted the importance of implementing SAP and ESRI software across the department and integrating the two technologies to help improve the department's operational efficiencies, leveraging each technology for the value that it provides. ArcGIS Desktop, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE software products were used to develop custom applications for the collection, conversion, maintenance, and analysis of data. Read the article.
Foresters Manage Land Using GIS and Microsoft SQL Server
The Virginia Department of Forestry adopted GIS to help manage and map activities such as tree planting and stand thinning. The department’s new Integrated Forest Resource Information System (IFRIS) uses Microsoft SQL Server and ESRI’s ArcSDE, ArcIMS, and ArcGIS Server to create, edit, validate, store, and manage spatial data. Because the system preserves geospatial history, the Department of Forestry will, over time, be able to note changes in forest types and conditions. Listen to the podcast.
Printing with ArcGIS Desktop Software Hosted on Windows Terminal Server/Citrix®
Windows Terminal Server (WTS)/Citrix GIS implementations are becoming more common as organizations consolidate application and database servers and other resources into central data centers.
