Windwave Communications Manages Fiber Network with Esri

March 8, 2011

Redlands, California—Fiber-optic services provider Windwave Communications recently selected a geographic information system (GIS) solution based on Esri technology to manage its complete network infrastructure. Windwave employees will now have an accurate view of the system and a database that can be accessed from the office and the field. The company will also rely on GIS to manage existing corporate assets and capture data in real time.

Windwave Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Inland Development Corporation, provides fiber backhaul solutions, as well as Ethernet and Internet services, to businesses, hospitals, and schools in remote rural areas of eastern Oregon. The company implemented Express Solution, built by Esri partner 3-GIS using Esri’s ArcGIS API for Flex.

“With GIS, we are able to plan, design, and manage our network, all with one simple suite,” says Erik McVay, Windwave Communications network engineer. “We researched other GIS telecom technologies and found that 3-GIS, based on Esri technology, offered the most up-to-date group of products for our needs.”
