Dutch Ministry of Agriculture Signs Enterprise License Agreement for GIS

ESRI's ArcGIS Server Technology at Core of Agricultural Programs

Rotterdam, Netherlands—The Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture is significantly expanding its GIS implementation with the recent signing of an enterprise license agreement with ESRI Nederland B.V.

The ministry has used ESRI's GIS software for various agricultural programs such as managing rural areas and subsidy control programs for farmers since the late 1980s. This new agreement gives the ministry unlimited access to the complete platform of ESRI technology. ArcGIS Server will be used to exchange spatial data between regional offices and with people working in the field.

Comments Mark Herbold, president at ESRI Nederland, "Because the Netherlands is one of the smaller yet more densely populated countries in the world, we have unique challenges in our land use. For example, there is considerable pressure on balancing development and agriculture in our rural areas. We are proud that the Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed its commitment to expanding its use of GIS with the signing of this agreement and look forward to assisting with the implementation and helping expand the use of GIS in agricultural applications. GIS is widely used within the Dutch government, and the new agreement is certain to spur even greater use."
