Current and future GIS leaders from around the world representing all levels of government, the private sector, and academia will convene in New Orleans, Louisiana, for URISA's 46th Annual Conference & Exposition, October 710, 2008. Preconference workshops offer close interaction and comprehensive content. New workshops this year include GIS Strategic Planning and Building Quality Spatial Data, eight-hour courses that have been peer reviewed by the finest minds in the profession. Sessions cover topics ranging from Cross-Jurisdictional Collaboration, GIS Project Management, and Urban 3D to Public Participation GIS, Data Privacy, and Evaluating Geospatial Competencies. Find out about GISCorps' work following the Myanmar cyclone, learn the status of the Street Address Data Standard, and participate in a discussion to advocate development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). In addition to the educational content, attendees can strengthen their professional connections through networking activities and review the technology offerings in the exposition. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a postconference charity activity to help the New Orleans rebuilding efforts, giving back to a community that has hosted so many URISA events over the years.
