21st European Conference for Esri Users in Athens

The upcoming 21st European Conference for Esri Users will be held in Athens, Greece, November 6–8, 2006. In addition to a keynote speaker, Jack Dangermond, president of Esri, will give his vision on the status of GIS now and in the future. David Maguire, Esri director of Products, Solutions, and International, will discuss and demonstrate the newest features in the 9.2 release of ArcGIS.

The second and third days of the conference will primarily be filled with technical workshops and many parallel sessions combined in several tracks. The tracks will focus on utilities/energy, transportation and logistics, cadastres, national mapping agencies, agriculture, defense, education, physical planning, and e-government.

The exhibition will feature many Esri partners from Europe and beyond. This event is always a great way to learn about new applications and to discuss current projects with the vendor experts. In the Esri Doctor's corner, attendees can speak with Esri technicians about software functionality.

Training courses about the latest Esri products will be provided before and after the conference, while professor Roger Tomlinson (the "father" of GIS) will present a workshop for GIS managers.

A poster session (with a Best Poster competition) and several social events will complete this second European conference in Athens (the first one having been held 13 years ago). The Hilton hotel is a wonderful setting for this event with its breathtaking rooftop view of the Acropolis.
