Esri Caf Honored For Architectural Design

The most recent addition to Esri's Redlands, California, campus has been honored for excellence in architectural design.

The Esri Caf, designed by Armantrout Architects of Redlands, California, and opened in September 2002, was among a handful of honorees chosen by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles Chapter (AIA/LA) as the recipient of its Design Honor award.

The 2004 awards were presented November 4 at the California Science Center's new Amgen Center for Science Learning in Los Angeles, California.

According to AIA/LA, winning projects represent the cutting edge in contemporary architecture, interior design, and historic restoration and are selected by a distinguished jury of local and internationally known architects.

In its design for Esri's caf, Armantrout Architects set out to "design a setting that is in and of the landscape; a gathering place-a campus building that welcomes an interpretation as an oasis along many paths."

The Esri Caf was previously honored by AIA's Inland California (IC) Chapter with the AIAIC Honor Award and the People's Choice Award in December 2003.
