The "short films" introducing each section are highly entertaining but also very informative. The exercises are easy to follow, and the ability to save the course materials means I can continue to review and refer back to them (and even finish some of those stretch goals that I may not have had time for while the course was active).
I liked learning new techniques and exploring many of the things that ArcGIS Pro can do. I also enjoyed the detailed instructions with explanations.
I really liked the introductory videos, variety of exercises, and relatively recent data sets. Getting to know the most recent ArcGIS Pro software was very nice too, understanding what it's capable of. I started using ArcGIS back in the late 90's and things have come a LONG way.
The lectures were really, really great. They were short and sweet and packed in a lot of key information. The consistent format helped me pay attention to the most important takeaways, and I always felt informed going into the exercises.
Working at my own pace was very useful. Having chances to go above and beyond the "normal" course with the stretch goals was a nice touch.
I enjoyed having access to different data sets to work with, watching the short videos in each section, seeing professional cartographers discuss mapping techniques, and having access to modern mapmaking software and tools.
The conversations between the hosts were very engaging and entertaining. They were at a level that was accessible to newcomers to cartography.
I really appreciate the encouragement that is transmitted to the students throughout every exercise to go beyond the simple step by step.
The lessons were fun, the course work was helpful and detailed with images that helped me learn nicely.
The videos at the beginning of each topic were extremely informative, yet concise. Very well produced and enjoyable to watch. Well done!
I absolutely love the inclusion of real-world scenarios in the exercises. Using natural disasters to demonstrate the use of the software brings attention to how we can help in these emergency situations.
I only use GIS periodically in my field to map data. This course allowed me to explore some more interesting ways to use GIS that I could use to present data in a more interesting and accessible way.
I enjoyed the user-friendly layout; everything was professional and right to the point.
This was the first MOOC I have taken with Esri and I am hooked! The instructors provide such a uniquely engaging experience, one almost forgets they're one in a class of thousands.
I really loved the passion that the instructors brought to the table. Their joyful knowledge sharing made this MOOC a pleasure to complete. As a young professional that loves both the analytical and purely artistic elements of GIS and mapping, these seasoned pros were inspiring to learn from!
The exercises and stretch goals were a great way to apply the information and skills taught and commit them to memory. I also appreciated the humor in the videos!
The step-by-step guide was amazing for a first-timer using ArcGIS Pro. The course opened up my mind to more ways of thinking about mapping.
[I most enjoyed] the variety! It touched on a bit of everything, which was helpful for me as a new GIS professional.
I enjoyed learning about the tools and tricks I didn't know about previously—even after working with ArcGIS software for a few years. I also enjoyed reading other people's discussion posts and appreciated the self-paced timeline, which helped me fit the course into the work week.
My favorite thing about the course was the hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro. I also really enjoyed the videos at the beginning of each section, especially the highlights of cartographers and unique maps.
I thought the lessons were extremely well put together. This course made an intimidating experience (learning new software) fun and straightforward, and I honestly feel I learned a lot.
I really enjoyed the exercises and the videos every week. I liked the format of the videos a lot—they weren't just info dumping—they were fun, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable.
I have been using GIS since ArcView 3.1. I have then gone on to make a career in GIS and cartography, having over 20 years professional experience with Esri software. I also adopted ArcGIS Pro from its inception. I am only saying this as this course is the first time that I believe I was shown 'tips and tricks' using ArcGIS Pro that I was not already aware of.
I really enjoyed the focus on making data presentable. We spent a lot of time on inputting visual details, and I think that is very important. I also love the quirky videos filled with people who just love cartography.
