The Ussuit Map Sheet of the 1:100,000-scale map series of the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland shows the bedrock geology of the area in West Greenland between 67°30' N-68°00' N and 49°45' W-51°54' W. It shows the distribution of Archean gneisses and Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary and intrusive rocks. These were stacked in kilometer-thick slices and subsequently deformed in large folds during the collision of two continental plates in Paleoproterozoic time (circa 1.85 billion years ago).
Apart from compiling the required geological information, the production of the map involves three main steps: (1) the topographic base is produced using a digital stereo plotter, (2) the geological information is added (mainly from a hand drawn manuscript), and (3) the data for the actual map sheet area is extracted from the seamless database and marginalia are added.
