The information on this map, along with other graphics and materials, was presented at a public meeting. The map shows view sheds for alternative transmission line corridors.
View sheds were created with ArcView 3D Analyst, and a digital elevation model (DEM) used for the process was generated from a mosaic of U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute DEMs with the addition of a general height to the forested areas, which were delineated from orthophotography. The view-shed analysis was confined to the predefined study area.
Analysis was performed on the view sheds to determine which alternate corridor would least impact the local scenery. The acreage of the view shed, number of building centroids within the view shed, and the length of road frontage within the view shed were calculated.
