GIS for Surveying

User Community

Networking with other users is often the best way to get answers to your questions or identify opportunities to extend the benefits of your GIS. ESRI supports user interaction through a variety of conferences, special interest group meetings, and user communication forums, both face-to-face and electronically.

What is a SIG?

SIG stands for Special Interest Group. This is a multi-disciplinary group and includes persons engaged in the industry as well as persons in affiliated fields or have a general interest in the application of technology to the specified industry.

For example, the Surveying-Special Interest Group (S-SIG) would not only include surveyors and engineers, but would also include other industries such as pipeline, petroleum, forestry, cadastre, electric and gas etc. This group is open to both Users and Non-Users of ESRI Technology.

What is a UG?

UG stands for User Group. A user group is similar to a SIG with one exception - members of the User Group are actual users of the related technology. In our case, members of the ESRI-Surveying User Group (E-SUG) are users of ESRI technology. Access to additional information is granted to members of ESRI's user community.
