The objective of the ongoing project Hazard Assessment and Prediction of Icelandic Volcanoes is the establishment of a largely operational monitoring service to be employed for risk assessment, early warning, and damage mitigation.

Soils of Thunder Creek Watershed, North Cascades National Park
This map shows the distribution of soils as they form under the forces of nature in Thunder Creek Watershed. Since access within the watershed is limited to a few trails, the map is the result of a GIS model called the Remote Area Soil Proxy model.

The data used for this project was a seamless digital database of the entire Iceland IS 50V developed by the National Land Survey of Iceland.
Volume 19: GISThe Language of Geography
Sub-Andean Geological Map This surface geology map in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was used as a source of information for structural analysis combined with topographic information using ArcInfo. Dip direction data obtained in the field was also added. With data entry completed, symbology was assigned to each layer.

Flooding of Underground Uranium Mine Workings at the Ronneburg Deposit The poster shows a three-dimensional view of the Ronneburg uranium deposit and captures pit shafts, horizontal mine levels, barriers, and the replenishing groundwater depression cone. The poster is updated every six months and available to WISMUT GmbH managers.
Volume 17: Geography and GISSustaining Our World
Geologic Map of the Ennis Quadrangle This map of the geology of the Ennis 30-minute by 60-minute quadrangle is part of a new geologic map of the state of Montana and was compiled in cooperation with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology and the Department of Earth Sciences, Montana State University. The map was designed for a scientific audience and shows the surface distribution of 89 geologic map units and structural features.

Published annually, each volume of the ESRI Map Book showcases a small portion of the work presented at the Map Gallery Exhibition at the annual ESRI International User Conference.
