Welcome to Compass PointsESRI is introducing a new e-newsletter dedicated to its users in the map, chart, and data production and spatial data infrastructure (MAPS) domains. You are making tremendous technological and organizational leaps in mapping operations within your organizations, and this publication reflects your work. I invite you to read how users like you are employing GIS to perform consistent and high-quality data production, management, and dissemination in the aeronautical, hydrographic, and topographic mapping and charting arenas. I invite you to share your own stories, so that we can all grow in our ability to handle the evolving missions of each of our agencies and expand our shared MAPS community. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to learning about your successes. Warm regards, Mark Cygan Remote Sensing and GIS SummitRemote Sensing and GIS Summit 8:00 a.m. - Coffee and check-in Dr. Bradley D. Doorn, American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) president-elect and remote sensing program manager at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), is the keynote speaker at the inaugural Remote Sensing and GIS Summit. Download the agenda [PDF]. We are also excited to have David B. Zilkoski, director of the National Geodetic Survey at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as the lunch speaker and Dr. Devendra Pandey, director general, Forest Survey of India, as our case study keynote speaker. If you are registered for the ESRI International User Conference (ESRI UC), there is no additional cost for the summit, but we ask that you register to attend.
