GeoTrac™, Datatrac’s Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) application, combines the power of Motorola’s GPS handset capabilities with ESRI’s ArcGIS Server software. The combined solution provides Datatrac users with an easy-to-use and inexpensive business tool to track mobile resources, manage work orders, and streamline location-based operations.

Datatrac’s custom Java application delivers GPS location coordinates over the iDEN wireless data network to ArcIMS. In the back office, ArcIMS processes GPS handset locations and adds dynamic street-level maps, addresses, and points of interest to Datatrac’s dispatcher Web-based console.

By adding AVL technology to eTrac, Datatrac’s real-time logistics network, Datatrac's courier and cartage agent customers can proactively manage their pickup and delivery processes and optimize the use of driver and vehicle resources through advanced reporting and real-time GPS tracking features. Running on commercially available Motorola i58sr, i88, and i730 phones, Datatrac’s Wireless eTrac solution connects dispatchers and drivers in real time.

Complete job information is received over a Java-enabled phone application, eliminating radio wait time. Drivers update job information in route over their phones without repeatedly trying to access busy dispatchers.
