GIS for Health and Human Services

Health and Human Services User Group

The Health and Human Services User Group, also known as the HUG, is a forum for the exchange of information and experiences helpful to the successful use of ESRI technology in the health and human services industry. Founded in 1998 during the ESRI International User Conference, the HUG continues to gather annually in San Diego, California, at a Business Partner sponsored luncheon held at the User Conference. To better support the growing number of the group, now 750 members, ESRI also hosts our annual Health and Human Services GIS Conference. Members are encouraged to attend either conference and present their GIS work in the paper or poster sessions.

In addition to face-to-face meetings, HUG members are encouraged to communicate through HealthyGIS, a free quarterly newsletter provided to all HUG members, that features stories of interest to members and events where ESRI will officially attend and sponsor. Communication regarding pertinent events and software news is also maintained through the HUG's listserve that is available to all members.

Collaboration is the key to moving forward in most human endeavors, and GIS is no exception. Members of the Health and Human Services User Group draw much inspiration and ideas from their colleagues. The ESRI Health and Human Services User Group is dedicated to fostering collaboration on a global scale whether it's at the local, state, province, or national level. GIS has played a tremendous role over the past decade in applying GIS to solve incredible human health challenges, and we invite you to consider joining the HUG and benefiting from the intellectual collaboration and personal inspiration of your peers.

Membership is open to individuals who work for organizations that use ESRI technologies for their health GIS applications. To become a member, please complete and submit the on-line registration form.
