Branch Trade Area Overlap vs. Market Financial Services Product Potential—This map illustrates the trade area overlap resulting from the potential merger of two institutions. The block group classification categorizes the block groups by high to low financial services product potential (deposits, investments, and loans) and high to low branch trade area overlap.

Population Estimation Techniques
City planners in Phoenix, Arizona, used GIS-based applications to estimate the number of potential park users within one-quarter mile of parks. A one-quarter-mile buffer was created around each park polygon to evaluate the community impact of the facility and determine future park needs.

This map presents a brief summary of the market analysis process employed by Verdi and Company, citing an example of a community bank in Plano, Texas. Using layers of information enables Verdi and Company to evaluate the institution's effectiveness of adequately servicing its customers and highlight those areas that may warrant new branch locations.

Bank Network Optimization—Final Recommendations
In 1999, Verdi and Company began a network study for a bank that included all of its locations within the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, area. This is a small portion of the bank's network, and the study was designed as a template for the rest of the network.
