Survey and Excavation

By using Mobile ArcGIS Desktop Systems running on a laptop or tablet PC, you can increase your mapping and data recording speed at the excavation site and gain immediate access to the day's data for analysis and visualization.

Building a site GIS allows you to interact with your excavation data visually and to merge data from mulitple sources, such as surface survey, geophysical and remote sensing equipment, and excavation.

Archaeologists are increasingly turning to GIS for field data recording, either using handheld computers and ArcPad, or ArcView running on a tablet PC or laptop.
