Getting StartedProject DescriptionBefore you research funding sources or request a grant search from ESRI, you should have a concise description of your proposed project and how it fits with your organization. You need to have a clear overview of what you want to achieve in your organization. You do not have to provide all this information to ESRI; we just ask for a few sentences that describe your project on our Request Assistance form. However, it is important for you to have a clear vision so that your grant project progresses smoothly. Defining Your ProjectYou should be able to answer the following questions:
Tip: Most federal grants only have a 3060-day period in which an applicant can apply, which is a very short time period. It is best if you do some research, have a clear project overview ready, and prepare collaborations/partnerships and management support ahead of time. This gives you the best chance for success.
