ESRI UC registration and attendance required. You, or a colleague, must attend to your Map Gallery or Multimedia entry for one hour during the Map Gallery Opening and Evening Reception on Monday, August 4, to discuss and answer questions regarding your display.

No Commercial Entries

The spirit of the Map Gallery showcases your GIS accomplishments and demonstrates how you are using ESRI's software to understand, manage, and improve our world. Entries may not be used as a promotional device for commercial purposes. Any entry that markets a product or service will be disqualified from the Map Gallery and/or Map Competition.

Submitting Map Entries

You may submit as many map entries as you like. For each entry you may choose a contest category to compete for an award.

Group entries are available for multiple participants who wish to display their maps together. Each group will have one leader. The group leader is responsible for:

  • Choosing a display location for the group.
  • Soliciting group membership from other Map Gallery participants.
  • Organizing members' individual entries within the space allocated for the group.

Each member of the group must submit his or her entry individually so that ESRI has a complete record of each entry for the competition and the ESRI Map Book.

Selecting Your Exhibit Location

After submitting your entry you can select where you would like your maps displayed in the Sail Area at the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC). Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, no exceptions.

Group members may select one or more panels from within the block designated by their group leader. Prior to the opening reception, Map Gallery staff will record the final arrangement of each group's maps. If a map(s) is moved to a new location after specifying to the map gallery team the location of a map(s), the moved map(s) will be disqualified from the map competition.

Uploading Digital Map Files

Upload your digital map files to allow us to review map contestants and display contest winners. All major image file formats are accepted (i.e., .jpeg, .png, .tiff, etc.). We are not requesting your original data, only your maps and other graphic documents that you plan to display in the Map Gallery.

Please note: Any digital files you upload will also be available for download by Web site visitors. Files are subject to review before being posted.

If you are unable to submit your digital map files prior to the ESRI UC, please bring them with you on a CD or other media and we will upload them for you.

Confirmation and Instruction Packet

After submitting a map entry, you will be receiving the Confirmation and Instruction Packet by e-mail. You will also be able to download it from the Map Gallery site anytime you login to your maps. This letter guarantees space in the Map Gallery and includes important instructions on setting up your display when you arrive at the SDCC. Note: The Confirmation and Instruction Packet updates automatically to include additional map entries. Download a new packet after submitting new entries.

The packet also includes the ESRI Map Book eligibility form. You will need to complete a separate form for each entry you would like considered for the ESRI Map Book. If you have any other questions regarding the Map Gallery, please contact the Map Gallery staff at ucmaps@esri.com or call 909-793-2853, extension 1-3347.

EdUC and Survey & Engineering GIS Summit registrations also qualify for Map Gallery submission eligibility.
