Overview
CrimeRisk Data
CrimeRisk data is available for major personal and property crime categories such as murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft. In accordance with reporting procedures in the FBI's Uniform Crime Report (UCR), aggregate separate and total personal and property indexes are prepared. Although this information is useful to measure the relative overall crime in an area, these are unweighted indexes; therefore, a murder is weighted in the computation equally to a purse-snatching.
The data is available for a variety of geography levels including national, state, county, census tract, block group, core-based statistical area (CBSA), place, and ZIP Code. Available delivery formats include comma delimited, shapefile, .txt, Excel, dBASE, a CrimeRisk Profile Report, and thematic maps from Business Analyst Online.
