65 Segments

Community Tapestry classifies U.S. neighborhoods into 65 segments [PDF] based on their socioeconomic and demographic composition. Each segment describes a particular market and defines distinctive types of households based on the demographics and consumer behavior.

For example, the Laptops and Lattes segment describes the demographic, socioeconomic, residential, and lifestyle preferences of households within this segment. Typical Laptops and Lattes residents are single persons who live alone or with a roommate; have a median income of more than $100,000; prefer to live in major metropolitan areas; and choose to shop at upscale establishments. For instance, Group L1 High Society consists of the seven most affluent segments, whereas Group L5 Senior Styles includes the nine segments with a high presence of seniors.
